I originally used my HP Scanjet 4850 with my PowerPC Mac G5, and I need to download a driver to make it work with my 2009 Intel MacBook Pro running OSX 10.7. The only software HP seems to provide for download is HP-Scanjet-Update-for-OS-X-10.7. But I downloaded that dmg onto my MacBook, installed it, it said the installation was successful, but I can't find the driver or application anywhere using the Finder or by looking through items on my hard drive; there's only a copy of the installer on my desktop. I tried copying the enntire package of HP scanner software from my G5 onto a thumb drive, then installing it on the MacBook, but a dialogue box said that the MacBook Pro can't use PowerPC applications.A list of supported software seems to say the Scanjet 4850 works with OSX 10.7-but maybe the Scanjet only works with Power PCs, not Intel Macs?

I downloaded the dmg 4 times, double-clicked to install it, and it wouldn't open. A dialogue box came up, saying, 'Warning: The following disk image couldn't be opened. Reason: not recognized.' So I looked under 'System Requirements,' and it might be that it wants the OSX to be 10.6, and I have 10.7 installed.

I double-clicked on the completely downloaded dmg, it opened up to a white box with an icon saying 'HP Installer' (and at the top of the box it says CPE InstallersPhase 52.4.4R2). But when I double-clicked on the installer icon, the little icon in my dock started bouncing up and down but nothing else happened. Now the bouncing has stopped, and clicking on the installer produces no reaction. It didn't even open enough to change the menu at the top of the screen from Finder to (I guess) HP something.Very strange.
