My device manager refreshes every 1-2 seconds and I've been able to track down the cause. An 'Unknown USB Device' pops up under USB Controllers in the device manager. I've tried to disable it and uninstall it, and it just reinstall itself when the Device Manager refreshes. But, I've also tried to uninstall my USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) a few times and whenever it's uninstalled, the refreshing stops, but of course, i can't use my mouse or keyboard then because all USB's are disabled. I've been trying to fix this issue for over 6 months now and I'm starting to loose my mind. Any help would be so appreciated.:).

Device manager refresh causing mouse lagI am all of the sudden getting mouse lag (mouse freezes up for 5-10 seconds every 30-60 second) due to my device manager constantly refreshing, or at least that's what I think it's from. I pulled up the device manager and the task manger to find what is happening. The sequence is: mouse freezes and device manager refreshes, then I notice Microsoft Management Console appears at the top of my Task Manager. So it seems the Microsoft Management Console is doing something to cause the Device Manager to refresh and then cause the Bluetooth mouse to freeze up. I'm not tech savvy, so I know I don't understand how all this works.
I just need some help fixing it. Thanks ahead of time! Device Manager keeps refreshing - due to network adaptersHi Timm,Device Manager refresh tends to happen when a new hardware is plugged in or removed, whether its a flash drive, and/or etc. This also happens when a driver is not working properly in which the Device Manager attempts to refresh to restart the said driver.Plausible reason is that your Network adapter requires update since all this started right after upgrading to Windows 10. If you haven't done so, you can update it by following the steps below:. Go to Device Manager and right click on Network Adapters.
On the drop down, click on ' Update Driver'. Follow the instruction in the Update Driver Software wizard. Also as an alternative check if this issue persist on Safe Mode. You can go to this for the steps on how to boot to safemode. You can also go to your PC manufacturer website for the latest driver update.Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi all,I recently purchased a Z83ii mini PC. I bought it just to install retroarch and other emulators and to keep in spare room.I have it set up as I would like. I noticed whilst using retroarch that the controllers kept connecting and disconnecting.Further investigation found that device manager keeps refreshing.I tried many things, I ended up returning the first unit and ordering another. Now the second unit is doing the same thing.I have searched Google for hours and have tried so many things, including disconnecting all hardware, but cannot find a solution.Just wondering if anyone has experienced this issue and more importantly found a solution.I thank all in advance for any help provided. I am also experiencing Device Manager Refreshing. It is accompanied by the device connect and disconnect sound.
It happens every few seconds for a period of a few minutes then stops, then starts again later in the day. In the event logs I notice in the system event log there is an entry each time from source 'nhi'. There is not much other useful information. The event log code is 1 which says: 'The description for Event ID 1 from source nhi cannot be found.
Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.further information not found.' There is also a corresponding entry in the Security event log showing that services.exe apparently authorised by the widows system itself is logging something on repeatedly at the same time as the event log system message appears referencing this mystical 'nhi'. I have been watching for a few days now and not yet been able to find anything on Google that was helpful. If anybody has any ideas - other than turning the sound off - it would be great to to hear them!Best to all!
